Notre Dame football had so much success with Xavier Watts that its going back to where he came from for its next elite defensive back commit. Marcus Freeman and his staff recently went out and offered Tory Pittman III.
The Omaha Central standout is considered one of the best players in the 2027 class and while he’s from the same town as Watts, he did play at a different school. Granted, the Fighting Irish have been plumbing the state for a while now.
Notre Dame goes back to a familiar pipeline for Tory Pittman III
Pittman could be one of the most sought after players in the entire state in his class considering he already has offers from Nebraska, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Penn State and Oregon as well as the Notre Dame football team.
Throw in the Rezac brothers in the 2024 recruiting class, and the city of Omaha has clearly been prime hunting grounds for Marcus Freeman. There seems to be a real pipeline being established there.
Pittman is considered a consensus four-star player by every major recruiting platform. The 247Sports Composite ranking has him pegged as the No. 40 overall player, No. 3 safety, and No. 1 player in the state of Nebraska for the 2027 recruiting class.
The On3 Industry ranking has him rated similarly, sitting as the No. 41 overall player and No. 5 safety for the class.
Pittman was a great two-way player for Omaha Central in his junior season. He logged 54 total tackles, 3 interceptions, and 1 tackle for loss. On the offensive side of the ball he had 26 receptions for 458 yards and five touchdowns.
The Notre Dame football team will be working hard on hauling in this elite defensive back. But it will clearly have a fight on its hands, especially from the Nebraska Cornhuskers who don’t want to see one of the state’s best talents to slip away.
