Notre Dame is coming off of what will probably end up as their biggest recruiting weekend of this recruiting cycle, and the Fighting Irish are going to ride this high for as long as they can. Head coach Marcus Freeman and his staff dazzled many recruits, one being the son of an NFL legend.
The Fighting Irish already have a few relatives of former NFL players, but none bigger than this one. Devin Fitzgerald, the son of legendary NFL wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, made his trip to South Bend this weekend and was blown away by the program.
After visiting South Bend earlier in the year, Fitzgerald made his return for an official visit and was able to be around other recruits, players, and coaches. According to the visitors, Freeman hosted everyone at his house Friday night for food and games, and it was noted as one of the highlights of the trip for many of the recruits, including Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald is ranked as a 3-star wide receiver out of Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, Arizona. The son of the NFL legend is ranked as the No. 483 player in the Class of 2026, No. 79 wide receiver, adn the No. 6 player in the state of Arizona.

Landing a player like Fitzgerald is huge for Notre Dame and building their offense going forward. With young quarterbacks battling it out for the position this next season, Freeman is going to want to play with young players in many positions, and wide receivers will have time to form a bond with their QB.
So far, Freeman only has two wide receivers in eh class of 2026 and is almost certainly looking for more, making Fitzgerald a great fit. The young pass catcher said that while he is seeing a lot of schools right now, something sets Notre Dame apart.
Fitzgerald already had official visits with UCLA, Clemson, and Stanford before visiting South Bend, and his final official visit is set for this weekend at UNC. Fitzgerald plans to announce his commitment on July 5.
