As the Notre Dame women’s basketball team gets ready to take on an old rival program on Sunday afternoon, there is one question that takes precedence over all others. Is Olivia Miles going to be back and ready to help the Fighting Irish get into the Sweet 16?
The good news is that the answer to the question seemingly was answered right after Friday’s game. Head coach Niele Ivey made it clear she didn’t expect Miles to miss the team’s second round game.
After the game, she said that her star guard suffered an ankle injury, which forced her to leave the game without returning with just under 9 minutes left in the game. "Yes, ankle injury. Stepped on someone's foot," Ivey said after the game. "Going to be OK. But she got to get treatment."
Notre Dame women’s basketball team is expecting Olivia Miles in second round tilt
Ivey added that nothing was totally official. However the coach said her star player was in good spirits, even with missing the end of the game.
"I haven't heard anything, but she walked off and verbally said she was OK," Ivey said.
The lack of concern from everyone involved would certainly seem like a good sign. It helps that the Notre Dame women’s basketball team won their first round game by more than 50 points over Stephen F. Austin. There’s also a reason to be optimistic considering the Irish also get to host this second round game. They, along with Olivia Miles will have home court advantage against the Wolverines when the game tips at 1pm..
