No. 10 Notre Dame is traveling to Pitt this weekend to take on the Panthers on a day when College GameDay will be in town. This is a showdown that has been played quite a bit over the years, with Notre Dame only playing USC, Purdue, Navy, and Michigan State more.
Even with Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire calling out Notre Dame for not being in a conference and playing as an independent, Marcus Freeman is keeping his attention completely on Pitt. However, Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi is focused on the Fighting Irish, but doesn't seem to be putting too much on this game.
Notre Dame could hang 100 on Pitt, and Pat Narduzzi wouldn't care
Q: “Do you feel like the Notre Dame game is a must-win?”

Pitt’s Pat Narduzzi: “Absolutely not. It is not an ACC game…I’d gladly get beat 103 or 110 to 10…They could put 100 up on us as long as we win the next two after that.”

Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi spoke to the media on Monday in preparation for facing No. 10 Notre Dame this week. The Panthers are currently in the midst of a tight ACC race, currently sitting at third in the conference with a 7-2 (5-1, ACC) record. When asked if Narduzzi felt this game against Notre Dame was a 'must-win,' his answer was a little shocking.
"Absolutely not. It is not an ACC game," Narduzzi said. "I’d gladly get beat 103 or 110 to 10 in that game; they could put 100 up on us as long as we win the next two after that."
Normally, a head coach is not talking so eagerly about another team absolutely potentially blowing them out, but clearly, Narduzzi is very focused on the ACC race and the ACC race alone. While the ACC race is important, winning the big games outside of the conference is also very important, especially if Pitt wants a shot at the College Football Playoff.
With a loss ot West Virginia on its resume, a win over No. 10 Notre Dame would be huge for Pitt and the potential for a CFP spot, but apparently Narduzzi isn't weighing a lot on this game.
