The debate over Notre Dame and the college football playoffs field is one that has people taking strong positions on both sides of the issue. However, every now and then, or really, more often than not, the issue is picked up by people like Paul Finebaum who are simply looking to throw out the next "hot take."

He certainly found one with his latest comments about the Irish and the Miami Hurricanes, who should be in and who should be out. In the process, the ESPN analyst claimed the CFP committee has a "bias" that has more to do with ND's helmets than how it's played this year.

"We love the college football season, but I don’t know why we waste time with it considering Notre Dame was already in the playoff in August," Finebaum said earlier this week on an episode of Get Up. "I mean, Notre Dame lost its first two games of the year. They lost to Miami, and now they’re ranked ahead of Miami. So why don’t we just go ahead and put them in? We’ll save all the aggravation and the indigestion."

Paul Finebaum called out on hypocrisy over Notre Dame football 'bias' take

"I've been hearing, and you've been hearing because you lived near (there) growing up … There's a bias. There is a bias. Let's just go ahead and admit it. And this committee, I have no earthly idea why they can't move beyond it, because they're supposed to be objective … And I feel badly for Miami."

However, Finebaum - who has a bias himself for the SEC - didn't like Shae Cornette turning the tables when she pushed back on his claims.

"Come on, guys. A ‘bias,’ Paul Finebaum? There are six teams in the CFP rankings from the SEC right now," Cornette said. "What are we talking about? There’s one ranking difference between Notre Dame and Alabama, and I would argue the 8-9 game – if the playoffs started today – is much more difficult than I think it’s 10-7."

Finebaum, meanwhile, said he didn't think there was such a bias for the SEC. Despite continuing to claim that Notre Dame gets special treatment.
