The Notre Dame football team looked like its old self on defense against Boise State on Saturday afternoon. The way Chris Ash's unit played was helped immensely by the return of sophomore defensive back Leonard Moore.
Moore logged two interceptions against the Broncos. He also looked like the guy he did last year, in that he was someone opposing teams should never throw at. Moore's performance especially impressed Pro Football Focus analysts, who called him a "megastar" and said he might be someone who gets drafted among the first five picks in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Leonard Moore leads Notre Dame football defense to a big win and gets big praise
In a recent episode of the PFF Grade Release show, both Max Chadwick and Dalton Wasserman had high praise for the Notre Dame defensive back.
"Absolute megastar that we have a cornerback right now. He was elite last year as a true freshman, which is why he was my number one corner in the country going into this year," Chadwick said in the segment.
"He's been, despite all the other flaws in Notre Dame's defense so far, he is still an elite corner. And this guy is an absolute stud. And he looks like a potential top five, top ten pick in the 2027 NFL draft, which is saying a lot considering all the amazing players that we could have in that draft."
"It has to be, when you're playing against Notre Dame, the old Darrelle Revis playing the Rex Ryan Jets game plan," Wasserman added. "You just can't throw at him. The first thing you have to do in your offensive game plan. More than any X's and O's or anything else is go, 'we can't throw at 15 just don't do it.'"
"I promise you there's maybe only one or two teams— even capable, Ohio State or somebody like that— capable of throwing at this guy and feeling like they have it. Do not throw at number 15. Just don't do it."
Leonard Moore has missed the last couple of games with a high ankle sprain. However, he was back for Notre Dame football's game against Boise State and he showed that he's still one of the best in the country.
