With another week of games in the books, the College Football Playoff picture has shifted again. And with a record of 4-1 on the season, the Notre Dame football team is now officially in the running for getting back into the field.

The latest AP Poll doesn't have the Irish totally back in the mix. They're ranked No. 14 this week. But considering the schedule the rest of the way, and how close they already are, it seems extremely likely they could get into the field of 12.

The Notre Dame football team can do a lot of work towards the end of the season but it's really going to come down to their final game of the year. If they beat USC, they almost certainly going to the College Football Playoffs. Lose and they almost certainly don't.

As far as the rest of the field, things are very interesting in the Big 12, thanks to Utah losing to Arizona at home. The Utes were considered the favorite to win the conference. They still might, but the Wildcats are now in the mix. Though at the moment, it looks like BYU with the best chance. And that's one heck of a dark horse champion.

I believe that the Notre Dame football team will make the field again. And that they'll beat USC because their defense is still scary good. But they're going to squeak in with the thinnest of margins.

The added bonus here of course is that the Notre Dame football team would be keeping one of their biggest rivals out of the playoffs on the last weekend of the regular season for both teams.
