Former Notre Dame football quarterback Brady Quinn understands what his old school needs to do in order to get where many expect it to go. He understands that new quarterback Riley Leonard is going to play a big part. He also understands that means the Duke transfer has to stay healthy.

And what Quinn knows that some Fighting Irish backers might still be ignoring, is that Marcus Freeman and company have a secret weapon at their disposal.

In fact, as it turns out, Quinn helped the Notre Dame football team acquire that secret weapon. He was one of the guys who talked to new strength and conditioning coach Loren Landow and made sure the former NFL strength coach took the job he was offered in South Bend.

Notre Dame football great thinks Loren Landow is Irish secret weapon

With a run to the national championship game now requiring a 16-game gauntlet for Notre Dame, durability is needed. Quinn believes that Landow will help the Irish attain that.

“He’ll be able to prepare the players so they’re not putting their body in comprised positions,” Quinn told NDInsider. “From my experience training with him, working with him back when I was with the Denver Broncos, he’s one of the greatest I’ve been around — maybe the best out there. They’re fortunate to have him.”

“(Landow) had reached out to me once the opening became public, expressing an interest, and I literally called him right away,” Quinn added. “I said, ‘No way. Are you for real?’”

“I think for Notre Dame to be at the forefront of sports performance, he’s the perfect person for that,” Quinn said. “He sees the big picture, the 30,000-foot view of where, not only just football, but I think it’s all the athletic programs of where they’re trying to get to and maximize the time he has with them and maximize their time on the field.”

Notre Dame football certainly hopes that Quinn is right and that Landow is the secret weapon to get them where they want to go. It shouldn’t take long to see the affect he’s having.
