One of the bigger fan favorites on the Notre Dame football team during the Brian Kelly era is now working with his former head coach. In the process, Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa has officially begun his own coaching career. And he’s doing it at one of the best football programs in the country.

It is of course, a little unfortunate that Marcus Freeman couldn’t find a spot for Tagovailoa-Amosa on the Fighting Irish staff. However, the former defensive lineman will now be tutoring others at LSU.

According to his Twitter profile, Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa has officially been named a defense-ends graduate assistant for the Tigers. In the process, he becomes the latest person with ties to Brian Kelly in South Bend who is now in Baton Rouge.

Tagovailoa-Amosa played in 50 games for the Irish from 2017 through 2021. He appeared in all 13 of the Irish’s games as a true freshman before only playing in two as a sophomore because of a broken foot.

However, He returned for his junior season and started 12 of the Irish’s 13 games that season.

In the Irish’s run to the College Football Playoff in the 2020 season, Tagovailoa-Amosa started 10 of 12 games. He was a team captain as a graduate student in 2021. That he was given that title had plenty of emotion tied to it.

The former defensive lineman was informed that he would be a captain through a video call while he was in Hawaii for his father’s funeral less than a month before the start of the season.

Tagovailoa-Amosa tallied 79 total tackles, 17 of which were for a loss, with 5 sacks over the course of his entire Notre Dame football career. Now he’ll get to impart what made him a great for the Irish.
