When it comes to dealing with legacy recruits, it’s always a bit of a tightrope walk. For Notre Dame football, there is one legacy prospect in particular who feels like a must-get, even though he continues to get offers from some very interesting schools.

Jerome Bettis Jr. looks to be someone who would be a perfect fit for Notre Dame football. That his father is one of the best players to ever strap the pads on in South Bend is just one of the reasons.

While most recruiting analysts have Bettis leaning hard toward the Fighting Irish, this is no time to rest on their laurels. Especially when teams with very interesting offenses like Tulane come calling for the 3-star wide receiver prospect.

The Green Wave officially offered the Woodward Academy product who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs in at 175 pounds. Tulane’s offer means Bettis is now up to 19 FBS schools who are officially courting him.

Those schools are an interesting mix of Power 4 and Group of 5 programs. In addition to Notre Dame football, Texas A&M, Missouri and Arkansas are some of the bigger schools that are looking for his commitment.

Considering that we’re still about 12 months away from when Jerome Bettis Jr. and the rest of the 2025 class can sign on the dotted line, there’s almost certainly going to be more fights for the 3-star receiver.

Bettis looks to be a rising star thanks to a solid junior season and the expectation that he’s going to build on it. Last season, he recorded 30 catches for 369 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was also a solid defender for Woodward, amassing 34 tackles and 2 interceptions.

The Notre Dame football team has had a good run of recruiting wide receivers. Hopefully they’ll be able to lean on that track record and reel in this legacy prospect.
