The Notre Dame football team’s game against Louisville was already a big one. Not only is a tilt between two Top 25 teams. But it’s also an opportunity to get a measure of revenge from last year for the Fighting Irish.

The game just got a bit bigger as Louisville is apparently getting one of its secret weapons back. Should things go to plan for the Cardinals, they’ll finally get to see how their top transfer target plays against big time competition.

According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, wide receiver Caullin Lacy is "expected" to play for the Cardinals in their ranked road showdown at Notre Dame football today. Thamel says that Lacy is a "gametime decision with the expectation that he’s going to 'give it a shot' and play."

Lacy, a transfer from South Alabama suffered a broken collarbone on the final day of Louisville’s fall camp. The program originally announced that he would be set to miss 6-8 weeks, but later amended that to an "extended period of time." It appears that time might be over.

Notre Dame football has big weapon to face off against

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound receiver was one of the most prolific and explosive wide receivers in all of college football in 2023. He caught 91 passes for 1,316 yards and 7 touchdowns. He was the first-team All-Sun Belt.

The good news here is that Notre Dame football has one of the best secondaries in the country. Even without Jaden Mickey adding to the depth. However, the Cards could have a man playing for them today that will be incredibly hard to contend with.
