Notre Dame basketball almost on a winning streak after Georgia Tech sweep
To paraphrase the immortal Lou Brown, Notre Dame basketball won a game last Saturday. They wont today. And if they win next Wednesday, that's called a winning streak.
While Brown is a fictitious manager of a fictitious version of the Cleveland Indians from the movie Major League, the potential winning streak for the Fighting Irish is very real. And it just so happens that if they do go on a winning streak, it would be the first of the 2023-24 season.
Micah Shrewsberry's first team has seen some serious ups and downs this season. Before their upset wins over Virginia Tech last weekend and then against Georgia Tech on Wednesday, his squad had lost seven straight. All conference games.
Now they've won two in a row. And indeed, should they manage to knock off the worst team in the conference - and it will likely be the first time in a long time that Notre Dame basketball is heavily favored - they'll have their first three-game winning streak of the Shrewsberry era.

The 58-55 victory over the Yellowjackets seemingly showed that the Irish are buying into what their coach is selling. They are playing their best basketball of the season as that season comes to an end. And that gives rise to dreams of making some noise in the ACC Tournament.
Even if they don't, this is still a team that is showing reasons for optimism. Chief among them is Markus Burton, who followed up his ACC Rookie of the Week award with 18 points, 5 assists and 5 steals.
Interestingly enough, Notre Dame basketball has four conference wins. Two of them are against Georgia Tech. They have yet to face off against the Louisville Cardinals this season. With a week to prepare, it seems likely they'll do everything they can to get one of those Lou Brown winning streaks.
