Notre Dame is the team no one wants to face in the ACC tournament

The Notre Dame basketball team isn't a world beater but they do have the kind of fight and the kind of player that can make some noise.

With just a few weeks until the ACC Tournament tips off, there are going to be a lot of words written about who everyone thinks is going to win the conference tournament and get one of the top seeds in the NCAA Tournament.

While the Notre Dame basketball team has almost no shot at winning the whole thing, they might be the one team that no one in the conference is going to want to face off against. The Fighting Irish are the team no one wants to play when everything is on the line, because all the pressure will be on the favorites.

As the season winds down, the Irish are playing their best basketball. They had posted their first three-game winning streak of the Micah Shrewsberry era until they ran into the Syracuse Orange. Fro a half, it looked like that winning streak was a mirage.

Syracuse led by 20 at intermission, but at one point they were up by as many as 29 points. Notre Dame looked dead in the water. And then the second half tipped off. Markus Burton led a near comeback that would have been history had they managed to finish it.

The Orange were a near upset, but the Irish do have a big upset of an ACC power under their belt this season. In fact, when Notre Dame basketball upset Virginia they showed that they can be the team that no one wants to face.

Even when Notre Dame is just 5-11 against the rest of the conference, they can still be dangerous. And Markus Burton is the kind of guy that can spur a run. He can spur an upset.

The Notre Dame basketball team doesn't need to win the whole thing in order to be a team that no one wants to play.
