Notre Dame Fighting Irish News: Jack Kiser gets big praise, more
Now that the calendar has switched to 2024, it's officially time to start dreaming on what the next season for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish could be. There's been plenty of superlatives for what Marcus Freeman and company are planning.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have plenty of talent coming back. Especially on the defensive side of the ball. Among those coming back is none other than linebacker Jack Kiser. Kiser was plenty good in 2023. After announcing that he's coming back, it's safe to say that there are plenty of Notre Dame football fans who expect him to have a big 2024.
It's possible that some Fighting Irish fans haven't really grasped just how good Kiser's 2023 season was. A tweet by Pro Football Focus earlier this week should certainly underline the talent that will be lining up alongside the likes of Xavier Watts.
According to PFF, Kiser had the second best season of any linebacker on a Power 5 program. He finished the year with that site giving him a 90.3 grade. The top linebacker in the country among P5 schools, Texas A&M's Edgerrin Cooper didn't beat out Kiser by much as he earned a 90.8 grade.
In yet another sign as to just how good the Notre Dame Fighting Irish defense was, Kiser wasn't the only Golden Domer on PFF's list. JD Bertrand was 9th on the list with an 82.3 overall grade.
