Notre Dame Fighting Irish two-sport star excelling at both
- Jordan Faison is off to a fast lacrosse start
- He's only getting better as the season goes on
- His last game was one of his best
Jordan Faison is a Notre Dame football star. He’s also a Notre Dame Fighting Irish lacrosse star. One has to wonder at this point if the freshman has a ceiling to just what he could do in South Bend.
After playing in 13 games as a true freshman for the Golden Domers, fans might have expected he’d get off to a slow start to the lacrosse season. After all, he’d be forgiven if he suffered from tired legs.
Faison has absolutely not gotten off to a slow start as he redefines what it’s like to be a two-sport star for Notre Dame. In fact, he’s arguably the best goal-scorers on a team that is trying to defend its national title.
Jordan Faison isn’t right at the top of the list of scorers just yet. He’s got some stiff competition. But the midfielder and wide receiver once the fall rolls around, is having himself quite the start to his lacrosse career.
Through four games for the defending national champ, Faison is showing why Marcus Freeman and company were willing to share him with the lacrosse team. Still in his freshman year, he’s now already got 9 goals and 3 assists for the 3-1 Fighting Irish.
Goals scored-wise, that puts the man who will be putting on a different set of pads for Notre Dame football next fall, fourth on the lacrosse team. He’s 5th in total points.
Notre Dame football star transitioning well in new sport
Perhaps the best part of this story is that Faison looks like he’s getting stronger as the season goes on. He’s finding his feet.
In Notre Dame’s last game, he helped the Irish take down 3rd-ranked Maryland 14-9 with 3 goals and two assists.
The sky is the seemingly the limit for Jordan Faison. Especially once you think about what a second season for the Notre Dame football team could be like.
