The Notre Dame Fighting Irish women's lacrosse team is off to a very solid start to the 2023 season. On Friday, in fact, they pulled off a win that could be a big sign of things to come for the rest of the campaign.

On Friday, the Irish pulled off an upset 14-10 win over top ranked Northwestern. Even better, they were able to knock off the Wildcats on their home field. It just happened to be the first time in 22 games that Northwestern lost.

The most impressive thing about the win, other than that they pulled off a victory against the #1 ranked team was that they led almost all of the way from the start of the game. It was back and forth at times, but in the end, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish improved to 2-0 on the season with a big win.

  • Friday night wasn't just a good night for the women's LAX team. It was also a heck of a good night for the Notre Dame hockey team. • Friday also saw the Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball team get off to a good start. The Rice Owls weren't exactly a powerhouse last year, but a win, is a win, is a win and Notre Dame got a 3-1 win to start the year. They've got two more games against the Owls this weekend. A 3-0 start to the year seems possible.
  • It didn't happen on Friday, but the Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's lacrosse team also got a win to open their season. They routed Cleveland State earlier this week, 25-3 in what was the start to their National Title defense.
