Notre Dame football adds massive DB talent with Mark Zackery commit

One of the best classes in the country just got better. The Notre Dame football team just wrapped up their pursuit of the top player in Indiana by nabbing the 22nd commitment in the 2025 class. Reminder, it's only May 25.

Defensive back Mark Zackery long ago teased today as the day he would make his decision on where to play his college days. Zackery previously narrowed down his favorite schools to four, saying that Florida, Michigan, Cincinnati and Notre Dame were the final contenders.

Notre Dame football gets Mark Zackery as 22nd commit of the 2025 class

Zackery annnounced the school he would play his college days at 1pm on Saturday. He took to the On3 Live Stream in order to let everyone know where he would play in the fall of 2025.

In the end, Zackery picked the school that he's long been considered a lean to in the Notre Dame football program. The defensive back made the choice to stay close to home rather than heading out of state.

During his announcement, Zackery was asked about why he chose the Fighting Irish and he said that he simply never felt like there was anywhere else he wanted to play.

He also dropped a little tidbit when he said that he told Notre Dame football head coach Marcus Freeman about three weeks ago that he would eventually be making it official.

Zackery has been a key target for the Golden Domers. They offered the corner back in May of 2023 and they have been going hard after him ever since. The Indianapolis native has come to South Bend several times over the last year. Now he's going to be playing his college days there as well.

It's another massive pickup for the Notre Dame football team, who just keep rolling on the recruiting trail.
