While the Notre Dame football team was busy beating the Miami Redhawks the  coaching staff was also working hard to build fo the future. In particular, they continue to try and land themselves a wide receiver for the 2025 class after several efforts haven’t panned out close to the way they wanted.

While the Fighting Irish were beating the Redhawks 28-3, Antavious Richardson was watching and he very much liked what he had to see.

“Everything went great,” the Greenville Georgia High School star told Irish Sports Daily earlier this week after his visit to see the Notre Dame football team.

“I got to tour the campus and meet the players, talk to the head coach, talk to the position coaches. I got a chance to bond with the players and coaches as well.”

So how much of an impact did the visit make? It might have won the recruiting battle.

“They're like my number one choice as of right now,” the 3-star receiver added. “I've still got other places to go, but as of right now, they're my top choice.”

One of the most interesting ins the Irish have with Richardson is his interest in life after football. He knows that the Fighting Irish have an edge over most programs.

“Their degree is a high degree,” he said. “If you say ‘Notre Dame,’ it'll take you a long way. That's why I like about Notre Dame outside of life, it'll prepare you for the better if football doesn't work out.”

Speaking of “working out,” the Notre Dame football team needs to close out its pursuit of Antavious Richardson. While he’s currently committed to South Florida, it’s clear he’s on the lookout for other situations, and it seems likely a Power 4 school working this hard for his commitment could win the battle.
