The Notre Dame football team has had a very nice start to February with a commit this week from offensive lineman Owen Strebig. It looks like there could be another commit coming in the next few hours and this time, it will be a wide receiver getting added to the 2025 recruiting class.

Elijah Burress, the son of former NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress announced on Friday he’ll be on Saturday night. Currently, the Notre Dame football team is looking like the front-runner. Now it’s all about doing whatever is needed to button everything up.

Not long after Burress announced his commitment date, two 247Sports experts put in their Crystal Balls. Both Tom Loy and Brian Dohn predicted that the Fighting Irish are going to land the receiver. It’s worth pointing out that Loy and Dohn are currently perfect when it comes to predictions.

For now, Burress isn’t the most high-profile wide receiver prospect out there. The 6-foot-1, 170 pound pass-catcher is a 3-star prospect out of Wayne, New Jersey. While he doesn’t have the best teams in the country coming calling, his FBS offers are impressive because of the offensive firepower they have.

Liberty, Duke and James Madison are all in pursuit of Burress. But if he wants to go to a team that is going to compete for the National Title in 2024, it would certainly seem as though the Notre Dame football team is where he’ll end up.

In his junior season, Burress hauled in 25 receptions for 434 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 17.4 yards per catch and put up some big numbers against big competition. That is likely one of the reasons the Notre Dame football team is so interested.

On Saturday night at 6 pm EST, they’ll find out if they get another commit.
