It’s finally here. The first day of Notre Dame football fall practice. If that’s not enough to get you excited, how about some updates on three Fighting Irish players who are coming back from injury and will be important this season?

Marcus Freeman had his first practice with this new and improved version of the Irish and after the session addressed the media. There was plenty of info put out there but some of the most important was injury updates on Benjamin Morrison, Mitchell Evans and Kevin Bauman.

During the press conference, Freeman said that all three were in “return to play” mode and all three practiced on Wednesday. That’s a massive step forward for Morrison and Bauman especially. It could change the whole vibe of Notre Dame football’s fall camp. And the vibe was already pretty darn good.

Morrison is the biggest of the big news here, as there was some doubt that he’d be back for the start of fall practice. It was thought he would miss at least a few weeks and likely miss the Texas A&M game.

His “return to play” on Wednesday would seem to indicate that the Irish will have their best corner on the field against Texas A&M.

Mitchell Evans too, has made significant progress. While things were a bit more upbeat about whether he’d be there for the open of fall practice, it’s good to see he’s actually out there. Those three updates were a positive way to start the season for Notre Dame football.
