When the Notre Dame football team announced it was going to be among the leaders in the sport when it came to reporting injuries, the program probably didn’t realize it would have to report on so many. However, the Fighting Irish have been bit by the injury bug a bit too often so far this season.

Against the Louisville Cardinals, bit again and it could be a rather big bite. Boubacar Troure left the game in the first half and didn’t return. There were some reports that the rush end looked inconsolable after returning to the sidelines from getting checked out by the team trainers.

For now, Notre Dame football isn’t sharing just what happened or how serious it is. After the game, head coach Marcus Freeman said Traore suffered a “lower body injury” but what part of the lower body is under wraps.

Freeman added that at the moment, he doesn’t have an idea how long the defensive star will be out. It would seem there might be more updates when he addresses the media to start the week. Of course, because the Irish have a bye week, it’s possible that kind of info might be a bit far away.

Notre Dame football keeps getting bit by injury bug

There were some reports that later in the game, Traore was seen roaming the sidelines with his left knee wrapped in ice. The fact that he wasn’t on crutches could be a good thing.

The news is especially frustrating considering Traore entered the starting lineup because he was replacing Jordan Botelho who is out for the remainder of the year with his own knee injury.

Traore, has been dominant since he entered the starting lineup. This season, he has 12 tackles, 3 sacks, a forced fumble, an interception and a defensive touchdown. The hope is that the bye week might be enough to get the defensive stud back by the next Notre Dame football game, but that’s an open question for now.
