The Notre Dame Football defense has seen some serious changes since Al Golden arrived in town. The changes that Golden has made spurred his players to put together a season that saw them as one of the top defenses in the country in 2024.

The Fighting Irish are looking to take the next step and in order to do that, the Golden Domers are looking to have players that can adjust as well. Sometimes they should be able to adjust positions in a game.

Jaiden Ausberry was mentioned by the Notre Dame Football coaches as one of the guys who is adjusting well. He’s adjusting quick. And at any time, he could be seeing reps at three different positions on Golden’s defense.

So far this spring, which is just about a week from being over, Ausberry has reps at Rover, Will, and the Aztec position in Notre Dame Football’s Spear package with Adon Shuler as well

On Saturday, the coaches mentioned that they’ve been moving Ausberry around because they want to find a way to get him on the field more.

“So, Jaiden is a guy that, quite frankly, he's in the conversation of... he's put himself in a position both physically and mentally where he makes us as a coaching staff stop the film and say, 'Alright, how do we implement and use this guy?'” linebackers coach Max Bullough said about Ausberry earlier this week.

Notre Dame Football looking for ways to get defender on the field

Getting on the field would be a nice change of pace from Ausberry, who saw action in just three games a year ago. He had a total of 21 snaps in the 2023 season.

Of course, that limited action means that Jaiden Ausberry gets to stay a freshman for the 2024 season. And it sure looks like Notre Dame Football is going to take advantage of the redshirt freshman’s ability to adjust in multiple positions.
