Indiana DL finds fit 'like a glove' with Notre Dame Football
It’s hard not to think that the Notre Dame football team has made an extremely positive impression on JJ Finch. The defensive lineman visited South Bend twice in seven days. And he’s planning on coming back for the Blue-Gold game.
So far, he’s certainly liked what he saw. This last visit convinced the Warren Central prospect that he just had to keep coming back.
Having been told that he would be a good fit for what Al Golden is trying to do with the Notre Dame Football defense, Finch agrees.
“Like a glove really,” Finch told Irish Sports Daily. “No issues, just go out there and play ball.”
He also believes he’d be a very good fit for the Fighting Irish, mainly because his game has few weaknesses. The player is uber confident he can do whatever is asked of him.
“I can rush the passer at a high efficiency and my run-stopping ability is like off the roof. I can take on the double team, all of that.”
Notre Dame Football defensive approach fits ‘like a glove’ for in-state recruit
It doesn’t hurt that JJ Finch is from Indiana. That would indicate that the culture and lifestyle fits Finch like a glove as well.
It’s just a two-and-a-half-hour drive from the Notre Dame campus to Indianapolis. That’s the kind of thing that will allow Finch to focus on his school and his football and still be able to see friends and family at a good clip.
It seems that’s important to the 2026 defensive lineman, considering that the fight for his commitment appears to be a race between Notre Dame Football and Indiana. On3 believes the Hoosiers are currently in the lead, but it’s not a lead that can’t be overcome.
It’s also clear the Irish staff know what’s going to work best when it comes to chipping away at the Hoosiers’ influence.
“Just keep coming down here, really,” Finch said of the Irish’s message. “They like seeing me down there, just soak it all in.”
The 6-foot-3, 220 pound prospect’s profile is rising. On the FBS level, he has offers from Notre Dame Football, Louisville, Indiana, Western Michigan, Toledo, Central Michigan, and Marshall. So far he doesn’t have any other visits scheduled, but that will almost certainly change in the very near future.
