Notre Dame football standout in top-five of latest NFL Mock Draft
The Notre Dame football program is certainly no stranger when it comes to sending players to the NFL. Now that the calendar has officially turned to 2024, it's time to look and see what Fighting Irish players are going to go in this year's draft.
Right at the top of the list of those who are not only going to be drafted, but draft early is offensive lineman Joe Alt. The talented lineman has long been considered a top prospect in the coming draft for quite a while now. He's gotten tons of hype as one of the best linemen in the draft.
Alt's potential was on display again in the latest mock draft put out by College Sports Wire's Patrick Conn. The writer believes that Alt is not only going to go in the first round, but will also be inside the Top 5.
Conn believes that the former Notre Dame football standout will go fourth overall to the Arizona Cardinals. One of the big reasons why the NFC West team seems like a good fit, according to the columnist, is because they're going to give Kyler Murray at least one more year, and they want someone who can help keep him healthy.
"It doesn’t feel like the Arizona Cardinals are ready to give up on quarterback Kyler Murray at this point, with that said the team needs to give him some help. Joe Alt helps in that regard as he can protect his blindside and keep him upright."

When it comes to Alt's ability to keep Murray upright, Conn is far from the only one who believes he's a good fit. The Notre Dame football star was given a 90.7 overall grade by PFF for this past season.
Alt's grade was boosted by a 91.7 pass block rating.
