The Notre Dame football team has been on a recruiting hot streak of late. But that doesn't mean that they are always going to get their guy. Even if it has felt over the last few months that they do indeed, always get their guy.

One prospect that the Fighting Irish have been fighting for might be a lost cause at this point. The Notre Dame football team lost to Ohio State on the field in 2023. They might be losing out on one of the best wide receiver prospects of the 2025 class off the field as well.

Jaime Ffrench is a 5-star wideout from Mandarin High in Jacksonville, Florida and he's got the best schools in the country beating down his door. There was a time when it seemed as though the Irish might have an inside track to at least getting an official visit to South Bend and Notre Dame sometime this spring or summer.

While that definitely could still happen, it's possible that it would be too little, too late at this point. Ffrench has several recruiting analysts believing he's eventually going to pull the trigger for the Buckeyes. It would be hard to blame him if he did.

Tom Loy of 247Sports is the latest to say that he believes the 5-star wide receiver might be leaning towards the Buckeyes.

There is a chance that people are just wrong on this situation. After all, up until this week, the same people who are saying he's a heavy Ohio State lean were previously saying he was a hard lean towards Alabama.

That could mean that Notre Dame football still has a chance. That's the good news. The bad news is that Jaime Ffrench is planning a visit to Columbus in the very near future.
