The showdown between Notre Dame football’s Riley Leonard and Texas A&M’s Conner Weigman is still a couple of months way. But the two quarterbacks had a mini-showdown this week and the Fighting Irish QB emerged the big time victor. In fact, if their little competition is any indication, Leonard has a real leg up.

At the absolute very least, the Irish quarterback has a leg up on the Aggies’ Conner Weigman when it comes to bragging rights. That’s because the two squared off at the Manning Academy passing camp in order to show off what they could do. It turns out that Leonard once again showed why there are plenty of people who are very excited to see the Duke transfer show offf what he’s capable of when he’s 100 percent healthy.

A video of the camp, showing Leonard, Weigman and new Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel has started circulating the web. The three quarterbacks were engaging in an accuracy contest where they had to hit moving targets.

Gabriel and Leonard were able to hit the target, with varying degrees of success. And then Weigman stepped up and had no success at all. In fact, of the three quarterbacks competing in the challenge, the Texas A&M quarterback was the only one who missed the target entirely.

For what it’s worth, Weigman is supposed to be one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC in 2024. He was one of the best in the conference last year before he got hurt. But he didn’t look like the better quarterback this week against the Irish.

It’s also worth pointing out that in a later competition Leonard looked very, very good in a long toss competition. In all, he showed that Notre Dame football fans should be excited for this fall. And he got some bragging rights in the process.
