Notre Dame football star has been 'training for this exact moment'
The Notre Dame football team expects to have a very good 2024 season. While the defense is likely to lead the way, the offense is going to be incredibly important. Especially against the few power opponents on its schedule.
The Irish will need Riley Leonard to really get the offense moving like a well-oiled machine. But Leonard is going to need some help.
That’s where Mitchell Evans comes in. The tight end is ready to show that Notre Dame football is indeed Tight End U. And he’s ready to show that he might be the best in what has been a long line of very good players at his position.
Notre Dame football star is ready to get going again
Offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock and his QB, Leonard agree that in the one year they have to work with each other, Evans is a bridge linking them. He’s someone who can help Leonard and Denbrock turn the Irish offense into a juggernaut.
“This is real,” Evans said recently. “This is what I’ve been training for the last three years. I’ve been training for this exact moment.”
“A big goal of mine is to show that I’m healthy, that I feel good and that I’m durable,” Evans said. “I feel like I am.”
That has of course, been a concern after his 2023 season was cut short with a torn ACL. He also missed spring practice.
“His frame, if it hits his hands he’s coming down with the ball,” Leonard said when talking about his new tight end. “You look at every single good quarterback in the history of football, they had a great tight end to complement their game.
It’s no secret that there’s excitement around Mitchell Evans and what Notre Dame football could do for it. Now everything just has to come together the right way.
