Notre Dame football 'in it until the end' for 4-star linebacker
The Notre Dame football team has been on quite a roll recruiting wise since the the calendar turned to 2024. They've racked up a couple of commitments that are bound to add a stockpile of talent to their roster in the coming years. But Marcus Freeman is nothing if not greedy when it comes to wanting to add all the talent he can get.
That's why the Fighting Irish are going to keep fighting to land one of the best linebackers in the 2025 class. Marco Jones isn't going to be snapped up quickly or easily. He's got some of the best programs in the country fighting each other to land him. But the Irish may have an ace in their pocket.
Jones talked to Irish Breakdown about where he stands with the Notre Dame football team and what they're doing to stand out.
"Some schools that have been standing out are the ones that have been reaching out the most, definitely,” Jones told the site. "Notre Dame has been one that continues to trend up. I have a great relationship with the coaching staff. My relationship with Coach (Max) Bullough and Coach (Al) Golden is great. They are both very good coaches and people. I feel like I mesh with them pretty well overall.”

The linebackers coach has only been the linebackers coach for a couple of weeks. Bullough got a promotion after safeties coach Chris O'Leary moved to the NFL. Before then, he was a GA. However, it's clear that Freeman and Golden believe its right for him to be one the coaches in the fight.
While the Irish do indeed have a shot at landing the talented linebacker and adding Marco Jones to a class that's already number one in the 2025 cycle, we may not find out how successful they are for a while.
"There is no updated timeline for a commitment date,” Jones added. "I’m kind of just letting the process play out. There’s no doubt Notre Dame will be in it until the end.”
