Notre Dame’s draft dominance continues through Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft

After the first two days of the NFL Draft, the Fighting Irish had seen three former players called up to the big leagues. On the third and final day, Notre Dame’s momentum in the draft would only increase.

Despite zero Notre Dame stars being selected in the fourth round, the Fighting Irish flooded Round 5 of the draft.

Fighting Irish in the NFL Draft, Round 5:

Cornerback Cam Hart was taken by the Los Angeles Chargers as the 140th overall pick and will play for the legendary Jim Harbaugh.

Just three picks later, linebacker J.D. Bertrand was selected as the 143rd overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons.

The Denver Broncos, who were in desperate need of a running back to beef up their offense, called up Audric Estimé from the fighting Irish. Estimé was the 147th overall pick and will be joining Oregon’s Bo Nix and Troy Franklin as fresh faces in Denver.

The first Irishman drafted over the week was offensive tackle Joe Alt who will also be taking his talents to the Chargers. Alt and Hart will join forces on opposite sides of the ball when they arrive in Los Angeles.

On the second day, another Notre Dame offensive tackle was drafted as the Houston Texans called Blaker Fisher’s name.

Fighting Irish in the NFL Draft, Round 7:

As the last day of the draft progressed, yet another Notre Dame player was selected. In Round 7, as the 222nd overall pick, edge rusher Javontae Jean-Baptiste was drafted by the Washington Commanders.

The draft count for former Fighting Irish teammates was up to seven players.
