A less-than-ideal start for the Fighting Irish has someone still left them in the AP Top 25 this week. Notre Dame is now 0-2 on the season with losses against a Top 10 Miami team and now a Top 10 Texas A&M team. Clearly, the ranking committee thought those were quality enough losses to keep the Fighting Irish in the rankings.
They only lost those games by a collective four points, so it seems fair. However, if Notre Dame drops its upcoming game against Purdue this week, it can certainly kiss a ranking and the College Football Playoff goodbye this season.
Notre Dame has to come in and play lights out against the Boilermakers this weekend, or else everyone is going to sound the alarm for the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame is currently nursing a nine-game win streak against the Boilermakers that they don't plan on losing anytime soon.
