Could former Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard be on the cusp of getting his first NFL regular-season action with the Indianapolis Colts?
While Daniel Jones is doing everything he can to avoid ceding any playing time to Leonard, his fractured leg might have other ideas. The Colts' starting quarterback is set to continue his Cinderella season on Sunday, though there are more than a few reasons to believe he could find himself out of action at any moment.
The Colts announced earlier this week that Jones has a fractured fibula. The injury meant that he was a limited participant in some practice leading up to the game against division rival Houston. However, as the week went on, the team listed him as a full participant, and he said the injury isn't limiting him at all.

Riley Leonard waiting on the call as former Notre Dame QB gets closer to NFL action
Despite assurances from Jones that he can and will play against the Texans, one wrong hit could not only end his Sunday but also his season. While no one is rooting for that, especially as he finally seems to have found his niche with Indianapolis, Riley Leonard is no doubt on high alert.
The former Notre Dame quarterback had a decent enough pre-season, and he has the same kind of talent level that Jones offers for the Colts.
Granted, as someone who had accuracy issues in South Bend and who hasn't seen a snap in the regular season, Leonard is the epitome of "green."
Still, while Daniel Jones insists the fractured fibula isn't something that bothers him all that much, the ex-Notre Dame QB1 who took the Irish all the way to the National Championship game in his only season knows opportunity could come knocking. It's a safe bet Riley Leonard will be ready if it does.
