Notre Dame basketball has had a tough go at it this season with different injuries. Star guard Markus Burton has not played in a game for the Irish since early November, and now Notre Dame has lost another player for the rest of the season.

Senior forward Kebba Njie suffered a knee injury against Virginia Tech that has been announced to end his season, thus ending his Notre Dame career. Njie never redshirted in his college career, so with his season ending, he does not have any eligibility to come back and play another season.

Njie made a post on social media thanking Notre Dame for everything it has done for him in his basketball career. The senior forward is grateful for his time in an Irish jersey and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

"Wearing this jersey, representing this university, and competing alongside my brothers has meant more to me than words can explain," Njie said in his social media post.

Njie appeared in 17 games for Notre Dame this season, coming off the bench in each contest and averaging 2.5 points per game and 3.4 rebounds.

Notre Dame must find a win amidst four-game losing streak

The news of losing Njie is tough for this Notre Dame team that is in the middle of a four-game losing streak. Acc play has not been too kind to the Irish as they look to find footing, especially with losing their leading scorer, Burton, for most of the season so far.

There is still a lot of basketball left to play this season, and if Notre Dame wants to play in March, this team will have to pick it up and break this losing streak. A game against No. 22 UNC could be the signature victory the Irish need this season to give them a boost going forward.
