Notre Dame football is shinning bright in the spotlight on Jan. 3 and all national media is giving the Fighting Irish the credit they finally deserve. Notre Dame took down the SEC champion, Georgia Bulldogs, 23-10 and have causes the SEC homers to scramble and panic.

On ESPN morning shows, GET UP and First Take, ESPN had SEC analysts Paul Finebaum and Cam Newton on. One of them took the high road and the other one took the low road.

SEC analysts eating heaping helping of crow after Notre Dame football's big win

SEC analyst Paul Finebaum, is left in shock and doesn’t know the future of the SEC. Finebaum has been known to cover the SEC for many years as he has his own radio and TV show on ESPN. The analyst picked the Georgia Bulldogs to beat the Irish, but after the loss, Finebaum owned the loss and admitted the SEC is in trouble.

“The big names have taken some big hits.” Finebaum stated. “Georgia was the team that everybody was wrapping their arms around. Isn’t it remarkable that the lone SEC team was in the Big 12 a year ago. It is going to be a bloody day if you are an SEC homer.”

Finebaum admittedly owns up that SEC homers put all their marbles on Georgia and were hoping that the Bulldogs could be their savior. Well, this gritty and resilient Marcus Freeman Notre Dame football team, ended all hope for SEC homers and made them come back to realization.

Finebaum didn't discredit the Irish win and didn't make excuses. Instead, the well-respected analyst blamed the game on Georgia OC, Mike Bobo. Finebaum talked more about Georgia miscues and how they bit themselves in the foot and the bad play calls, rather than talking down on Notre Dame and its big win.

Cam Newton however went about the SEC loss much differently. The former Auburn quarterback has slammed Notre Dame a couple times now and this is making it his third claim against the Irish.

“This is the weakest University of Georgia team in the last five years.” Newton stated on the Irish win. “On top of they played with their backup quarterback, on top of they had two turnovers, on top of they had to muster special teams touchdowns to win.”

Not quite sure where Cam Newton was going with this. Newton started throwing excuses out on First Take that Ryan Clark called him out on. Clark, father of Notre Dame's Jordan Clark, called Newton out if he wants to talk about injuries. Clark made sure to bring up that Notre Dame is without two All-Americans in Benjamin Morrison and Rylie Mills, Jeremiyah Love was also limited to just six carries because of an injury, Howard Cross got hurt again, and Notre Dame is without two offensive linemen and even more. Clark ended his segment saying this.

“You want to talk about people they lose, the only team I see who ain’t crying about who they lose is Notre Dame” Clark stated on First Take. “They are just playing. They are not asking for you to say, ‘hey we want to see you.’ They don’t care if they want to be seen.”

Newton claims is embarrassing for the SEC analyst and doesn’t make sense. Newton even went on to state that Notre Dame controlled the line of scrimmage but his argument was because this UGA team isn’t the best UGA team in recent years. In his segment, he claimed Notre Dame forced turnovers and controlled the line of scrimmage. Sounds like a dominant Notre Dame football victory and Cam Newton has a hard time to admit he was wrong.

The SEC homers are having a hard time that their programs didn't live up to expectations. Some, like Paul Finebaum, own it and admit this year the big brand SEC programs failed. Others, like Cam Newton, make ridiculous claims and have a hard time admitting Notre Dame football beat Georgia.
