On Friday night, the Notre Dame football team plays its first home playoff game in program history. And South Bend is dealing with perfect football weather before that game starts.
There has been talk for the last few weeks about the weather in and around Notre Dame stadium when that first playoff game kicks off. There was quite a bit of excitement around an SEC team coming to town and playing in the snow.
Instead, it’s the Indiana Hoosiers, which might be even better. These are two teams that are pretty used to below-freezing temperatures. They’re two teams that embody the toughness of a midwestern team in the middle of winter. Notre Dame football and Indiana will be playing with a snowy backdrop, and the social media team showed just what a playoff game just ahead of Christmas.
Notre Dame football getting ready for a playoff in the snow
The Irish social media team took to Twitter early on Friday morning to show what’s going on inside the stadium about 12 hours before kickoff. The post shows a lone snowman looking out over the snowy field before the sun rises on what could be a great day.
If you look at that post and don’t get goosebumps, then you just aren’t having any fun.
That wasn’t the only allusion to a wintery playoff game. Notre Dame football alum Mike Golic Jr tweeted out that the line to get onto campus hours and hours before any game will be played. It’s clear that the Blue and Gold and their fans are more than ready for this thing to just start already.
