Jack Lamb has finally heard from Notre Dame

Jack Lamb is a polished, fast, long linebacker with great intangibles. He plays at Great Oak High School in Temecula, California where he put together an impressive season in 2016.

Lamb managed 117 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 1 interception, 5 passes defended and a fumble recovery during his junior season. His dynamic stat line has landed him 14 offers including UCLA, Washington, Arizona State, Baylor, Cal, Oregon, Utah and Vanderbilt.

Lamb had explained to me in the past that he is interested in Notre Dame and would certainly be intrigued if they were to offer him. I recently caught up with him and he had good news.

“I recently got into contact with Coach Lea,” said Lamb. “He sent me a DM and asked for my number so we’d be able to stay in contact.”

Lamb also informed me that he has set out on a recruiting trip during his spring break that includes stops at Stanford, Cal, Washington, Oregon and Penn State, where both his parents went graduated.

Lamb got some much-deserved notoriety for his talent by being chosen to attend The Opening Finals in Beaverton, Oregon where he will showcase his talent among the country’s elite.

Jack Lamb shows a wide range of polished skills that he uses in an instinctual manner. His efforts in pass coverage are hard to miss. Lamb shows that he has worked hard in honing his craft when it comes to pass defense and isn’t afraid to make a play on the ball.

Lamb also impresses with well-timed, well-executed blitzes. He shows good overall speed and quickness while having the balance and nimble feet to change direction when needed. He also closes on the ball well and hits with force.

Lamb can be found blitzing both A and B gaps very well, which is something he would be asked to do at the mike position in Elko’s defense, if he were to play that spot.

He shows that he understands angles in his pursuit to the football. Lamb doesn’t quite have elite speed, but at 6’4, 215 pounds, he moves very well and can hang with the talent in his competitive high school division.

We’ll see what happens with his visits and whether or not he picks up offers from Stanford or Penn State. Given his performance on the field last season, his invite to the opening and the size, athleticism and natural talent he possesses, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was offered by one, or both, of those schools.

There is no doubt that Lamb is well-known by the Irish. They do have a fair amount of linebackers already on their board and this may play a factor in the numbers game as it relates to their linebacker recruiting of the 2018 class.

Shelby, North Carolina’s Dax Hollifield and Toledo, Ohio’s Dallas Gant are a few highly ranked suitors who hold offers and have been on campus, but there is a decent chance that they may offer Lamb in the future, especially if he plays well in Beaverton.
