Notre Dame kicks off the Blue-Gold Game on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The Notre Dame Quarterbacks will be “live” for the first half of Saturday’s scrimmage. Here are 5 storylines for the Blue-Gold Game:

1. C.J. Prosise: Notre Dame’s Top Offensive Weapon?

In a scrimmage during this season, C.J. Prosise took a handoff 70-yards for a touchdown. Brian Kelly has raved about Prosise’s breakaway ability.

Will Prosise demonstrate this during the Blue-Gold Game? Perhaps, he will run his way all the way to the Blue-Gold Game MVP.

2. “Live” Quarterbacks

“Live” Quarterbacks may produce the most interesting battle between Everett Golson and Malik Zaire in the first half.

Golson needs to improve his pocket presence. He cannot properly practice this skill if he knows the Defensive players will not hit him.

Zaire’s best skill is his running ability. The third-year player from Kettering, OH cannot show his elusiveness if the defenders can simply tag him down.

3. Early Enrollee Jerry Tillery

Brian Kelly praised early enrollee Jerry Tillery from the first day of the spring practice. According to reporters who have viewed practice, Tillery is as advertised. It will be exciting to see Tillery strap on the gold helmet for the first time in Notre Dame Stadium. He may have the same type of impact that Aaron Lynch did in 2011.

4. Return of Jarrett Grace

Jarrett Grace broke his leg in the first half against Arizona State in 2013. Grace failed to make his way onto the field in 2014. However, the 5th year Linebacker is prepared to make a contribution in 2015.

How will Grace play in the Blue-Gold Game? Are the reports of his progressive exaggerated or real?

5. First Play of the 2nd Half

Brian Kelly and the Notre Dame Coaching Staff invited Notre Dame fans to call the first play of the 2nd half. What type of play will be called? One would assume that it will likely be some type of trick play and not something simple like “Spider 2 Y Banana.”
