We have three questions about every player on the Notre Dame football roster this spring.

There will be about 65 guys on scholarship for spring football this year. We are going to take a look at each one (alphabetically for dewey decimal fans), and ask a few questions. What those questions will be, are probably more important than the answers actually given before September- if any are given at all.

JR. Justin Brent came to Notre Dame as a highly sought after wide receiver prospect from Indianapolis. Brent saw action in 9 games his freshman year (most of which was on special teams). Justin was moved to running back in spring of 2015, and subsequently, he redshirted for the 2015 season.. WR / RB. Notre Dame Fighting Irish. JUSTIN BRENT

1. What was Justin Brent thinking when he “dated” adult film star Lisa Ann?

Ask that question one more time, but this time, put yourself in his shoes at age 20 and in college. While Brent was the butt of jokes for some and the source of envy for others, no one in the Notre Dame administration was laughing (and none would admit to being envious). While nothing was ever officially mentioned, Brent seemed to cement himself inside Brian Kelly’s

dollhouse

doghouse. After all… wasn’t it a little odd since Brent is a film major as opposed to being a history major? Let that joke sink in for a minute.

2. Where does Brent fit on this Notre Dame roster?

Despite the common thinking that a guy has to have a position to have a place, Justin is proof that a really good athlete can supersede that thought. In a lot of ways, Brent is similar to what Notre Dame had in both Amir Carlilse and CJ Prosise. It’s what we used to call a “third down back” but now use more futuristic terms like “flex player.” He can do a little of everything, and if he can do one well enough- he’ll play.

3. Can Brent have a breakout 2016 season?

Next: A Miles Boykin Package?

Of course he can- but the opportunities will be scarce. Both skill positions that he plays are fairly well stocked and stocked with good players. It’s hard rise above that kind of crowd. So, yeah… Brent can breakout, but the liklihood of him doing so this year lessens with every snap he doesn’t get in practice.
