Notre Dame basketball has five games left to make their final statement of the 2016-2017 season. Watch the Irish take on Boston College online.

At 9-17, Boston College isn’t a threat to Notre Dame. The Irish are now one of the hottest teams in the NCAA with their new found lineup. Playing small ball, they have now found themselves as one of the best offensive units in the country.

A game and a half out of first place in the ACC, Notre Dame is using each of their final five games to move as far up the standings as they can. Behind V.J. Beachem’s 68 points in the last four games and Bonzie Colson’s 16 double-doubles, the Irish are rolling to the top of the conference.

Boston College doesn’t have anyone to compete with the Irish. The Eagles are on a nine-game winning streak during which they’ve relied heavily on their underclassmen guards, Ky Bowman and Jerome Robinson.

Outside of these two, Boston College has no one to count on for productivity. Where they’ll struggle against Notre Dame is through Beachem and Colson. Matt Farrell and Steve Vasturia will occupy Bowman and Robinson, but then the Eagles will have no one left to guard the rest of the Irish’s lineup.

Notre Dame has no weaknesses in their starting five now that they’ve gone small. Teams can’t take advantage of a mediocre frontcourt when Colson is playing their big man.

Boston College isn’t going to make this game close. Notre Dame has them outmatched in every aspect. Once the Irish get rolling the Eagles won’t have a way to catch back up. By the second half, expect the Irish to start turning to their bench and giving their starters rest.

Notre Dame’s focus right now is continuing to move up the ACC rankings. This game is an easy win. Their focus should be on winning the rest of their games, but with this one being so easy, they can concentrate on the road after Boston College.
