The college basketball season has come to a conclusion, which means one thing, Notre Dame basketball ready for next season.

It’s nothing new, everyone comes out with a college basketball way-too-early poll. It just seems like it’s released earlier every season. Unfortunately trying to predict next season’s top 25 is about as hard as filling out a perfect bracket.

Everyone has a different opinion meaning everyone has a different top 25, and apparently a different interpretation of where Notre Dame will be come week one.

Looking through some of the major companies way-too-early polls, it’s clear no one knows how well the Irish will be next season. The only two websites that agreed and put Notre Dame in the same position was FoxSports and Bleacher Report. Both left ND out of the top 25.

USA TODAY felt a little more confident about the upcoming Irish team giving them a solid 14th ranking. While giving ND’s recruiting class a C, the main confidence is held in Bonzie Colson playing like a National Player of the Year candidate, and teaming up with Matt Farrell to be a deadly combo.

ESPN recognized that Notre Dame is losing V.J. Beachem and Steve Vasturia. But they also recognized that this has happened the last two years, yet have always had an answer. The answer this time, Bonzie Colson once again. ESPN believes the small ball team will be 18th in the rankings.

Sports Illustrated gave the most respect to Notre Dame, ranking them 12th. Colson was highlighted as a potential ACC’s preseason Player of the Year and described Farrell as “tough-as-nails”. Incoming Freshman D.J. Harvey was also highlighted expecting to play heavy minutes.

In the long run…

We can take this information however we wish to. Way-too-early polls mean absolutely nothing. The only true reason these polls exists is to give us something to talk and debate about while avoiding the truth that basketball season has ended.

Hold on, November will be here soon enough.
