The Notre Dame football team enters the final four games of the season with a 6-2 record

Thus far, Slap the Sign predicted the first eight games of the season. According to the predictions, Notre Dame enters the Wake Forest game with a 6-2 record. Temple, Boston College, Michigan State, Miami (OH), North Carolina and USC represent their victories. Georgia and NC State make up their losses.

A 6-2 record means the Irish find themselves outside the College Football Playoff picture (unless Georgia and NC State finish in the top two). Even though the Irish do not possess a chance at the playoff when the calendar turns to November, a chance at a New Year’s Six bowl game hangs in the balance. If the Irish win their last four games of the season, a bid to a top tier bowl game is almost guaranteed.

Brian Kelly’s job also hangs in the balance. A 10-2 or 9-3 record guarantees that Kelly’s hot seat begins to cool. If he finishes with an 8-4 record or lower, questions still remain about whether Kelly deserves to remain in South Bend.

NFL careers and hardware also await a strong November finish. Offensive Linemen Quenton Nelson and Mike McGlinchey need a strong year and finish to secure first round NFL Draft status. If Brandon Wimbush plays as well as many believe he can, he might find himself in contention for the Heisman Trophy.

Here are predictions for the final four games on the 2017 Notre Dame football slate.
