Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Who’s Next? Irish Now Looking For Commitment No. 20
By Andrew Hall
Defensive Back – Kyler Gordon – Archbishop Murphy – Everett, WA
Eventually, a Cornerback is going to want to join the Fighting Irish. After striking out during the 2017 recruiting class, the Irish are yet to receive a commitment from a Cornerback. The recent success of the Notre Dame defense under Mike Elko might convince prospects to jump on board.
Kyler Gordon might be one of those prospects. Gordon hails from Everett, Washington, the same hometown as former Irish Cornerback Keivarae Russell. However, unlike Russell, Gordon attends Archbishop Murphy High School.
The 5’11” 180lbs. prospect ranks as the 23rd best Cornerback prospect. Nationally, he ranks as the 216th overall prospect.
The competition for Gordon is fierce. Notre Dame is currently battling in-state Washington and west coast academic powerhouse Stanford. He also holds offers from Nebraska, Oregon, TCU, UCLA, USC and Utah.
Washington is currently the favorite to land Gordon. Although, his Sep. 2nd visit to South Bend did not hurt Notre Dame’s chances. Ultimately, at some point, a Cornerback prospect will realize that early playing time awaits them in South Bend. An elite Cornerback prospect might jump directly into the two-deep.
Archbishop Murphy’s Defensive Back Kyler Gordon might be that Cornerback prospect.
