Notre Dame and LSU are set for a track meet.

Notre Dame and LSU both like to run the ball. But who wouldn’t when you have the threats that both teams have. If neither coach were looking to run the ball as much as possible with the running backs they have, they would be looking for new jobs.

Notre Dame finished the season 7th in the country in rushing yards per game at 279 YPG. Josh Adams rushed for over 100 yards in six of Notre Dame’s first eight games. He would build a Heisman Campaign behind one of the best offensive lines in the nation. Although that line had a lot to do with Adam’s success, he also has been a bulldozer. The first contact is often not enough to stop him, you can only hope it will slow him down.

On the other side of the field, LSU finished the season ranked 30th in the country rushing for 210 yards per game. The Tigers are getting it done with the one-two punch of Derrius Guice and Darrell Williams. While their offensive line is physical up front, the athleticism of their backs has led too much of their success this season. Able to make you miss off the first cut, they create their own space.

While there are threats to the sides of the backs, this is not a game where you will see either team air it out too much. Most passing it this game will be made to help set up the run and push the defense back out.
