At least one prominent NFL Draft analyst at Notre Dame’s Pro Day thinks the first two lineman off the board could be from Notre Dame.

Notre Dame football held its annual Pro Day on Thursday and there were plenty of scouts and NFL Draft analysts in attendence. One of the heavy hitters watching and taking notes on the sidelines was Mike Mayock of the NFL Network.

In interviews given after the session was over, Mayock gushed about what he saw from Notre Dame’s offensive linemen. He even went so far as to say that Notre Dame’s two big names in the position group — Quenton Nelson and Mike McGlinchey — could very well be the first two linemen drafted.

As far as Nelson is concerned, him being taken as the first lineman in the 2018 NFL Draft shouldn’t shock many. The former Irish guard has been projected by pretty much every reputable outlet as the first lineman to be drafted — even if he is a guard.

The shocking part of Mayock’s comment had more to do with what he thought of McGlinchey.

Most mocks have the former Irish tackle being taken in the first round of next month’s NFL Draft. Very few, however, have McGlinchey as high as the second lineman off the board overall.

Depending on how much stock you put in Mayock’s words, this certainly changes the possible scenarios in terms of destinations for Mike McGlinchey.

Most have Nelson going to the New York Giants, Chicago Bears or Indianapolis Colts due to both need and fit. If McGlinchey is in fact the top offensive tackle available, the Cleveland Browns would now be in play — likely at pick No. 4 due to the recent retirement of Joe Thomas. If he falls past Cleveland, the Tampa Bay Buccanneers, Oakland Raider and a Cincinnati Bengals would all emerge as possible suitors.
