Notre Dame Football: Top Defensive Players Irish Will Face in 2018
By Jack Leniart
1. Rashon Gary (Defensive Tackle, Michigan)
Gary might not have the career stats that some of the other guys on this list have, but he’s projected by some sites to be a top ten pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. So, yeah, he’s the best defensive player Notre Dame will face this season.
Gary finished his sophomore season with 66 total tackles, 12 TFL, 6 sacks, 7 QB hurries, and a forced fumble. All while drawing more than his fair share of double teams from opposing offensive lines.
At 6′ 5″ 281 lbs, this guy is the total package. He has the length and athleticism to rush from the end coupled with the power and explosiveness to wreak havoc from the tackle position.
The team that lands this guy in the 2019 NFL Draft will get a playmaker that can contribute from day one.
