5 most intriguing Notre Dame Football road trips in the next 10 years
By J.P. Scott
The Notre Dame football program continues to keep things interesting with its nationwide barnstorming method of scheduling.
One of the great things about being a Notre Dame football fan is the program’s independence. Sure, there are built in rivalries that take place every season, but the independence of the Irish program also keeps things fresh from a scheduling standpoint. One of the end results is road trips to some new, historic, or sometimes just fun places.
Over the next decade, Notre Dame football will play plenty of interesting games away from home. I’ve highlighted five of the most intriguing road trips over the next ten years.
5. Arkansas, 2025
As of today, these two programs have never met. That will change in 2020, when the Razorbacks make there way to Notre Dame stadium. The trip for Fayetteville in 2025 will be a first for Irish fans, who don’t often get to travel into SEC country. Fayetteville is a beautiful and underrated college town. This will be a fun trip.
4. Ohio State, 2022
The Irish haven’t visited the Horseshoe in Columbus since 1995. With such a large contingent of fans in Ohio, you can bet Notre Dame will be well-represented at this one. The two teams have only met six times historically. Ohio State leads he series 4-2.
3. Texas A&M, 2024
2001 was the last time Notre Dame played played in College Station. If you’ve never been, just know that Kyle Field is one of the most scenic venues in all of sports. The pride and tradition at Texas A&M is infectious, and the atmosphere will be electric.
2. Wisconsin, 2020 (at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI)
It really doesn’t matter who the opponent is — seeing a program with the history that Notre Dame has play a game in one of football’s most storied venues should be a bucket-list item for every football fan.
1. Alabama, 2029
Save your pennies for this one. You think tickets to this year’s Notre Dame-Georgia game are outrageous? Wait until the Irish make their first-ever trip to Tuscaloosa. The two programs have met seven times over the years, but never in the home stadium of the Crimson Tide. The scene will be insane, but Irish fans should not expect a whole lot of southern hospitality from the Bama faithful.
