Notre Dame Football not looking past Boston College Eagles
By Brad Weiss
Despite a monster win last weekend, the Notre Dame Football team is not looking past Boston College, a program who has broken their heart before.
The Notre Dame Football team has a program-defining victory this past weekend against Clemson, playing in primetime and beating the No. 1 team in the land. Ian Book was terrific, Kyren Williams ran all over the Clemson defense, and the Irish defense got stops when they needed, especially in overtime.
As they head to Chestnut Hill to take on the Boston College Eagles inside Alumni Stadium, they are on a mission to turn this into a special season. With a signature win already in the books, Notre Dame is certainly in line for an undefeated regular season, especially with how the schedule will shape up the rest of the way.
A target on their backs
Head coach Brian Kelly knows the importance of this game, and after finally beating a top-5 team for the first time since he arrived in South Bend, his team is not looking ahead. With unranked teams on the slate the rest of the way, Notre Dame has to find a way to win the games they are supposed to, and the game against BC could go a long way in them clinching their spot in the ACC Championship Game.
Kelly recently stated that the Irish have a target on their backs, and that means they have to go into each game with the same mentality they did against Clemson. No team can be taken lightly from here on out, and if they can take care of business, they will be a legitimate contender for a College Football Playoff berth, no matter the outcome in the ACC title game.
While Boston College has broken this program’s heart before, I do not foresee that happening to this Irish team this afternoon. Kelly has this team playing with the right mindset, and with veteran presences on both sides of the ball, the locker room knows what kind of season this could turn out to be.
