Four Notre Dame football players are headed to the prestigious Reese’s Senior Bowl this year, including star quarterback Ian Book.

Sitting at 8-0, the Notre Dame football team is entering the final stretch of their season with hopes of clinching a spot in the College Football Playoff.  They have a nice blend of younger and veteran players, and everyone has played a role in the team’s stunning start to the season.

Big keys to this season have come from four players who have been invited to the Reese’s Senior Bowl. This is a prestigious honor, and is the first stepping stone in the NFL Draft process for the best seniors in college football.

There is still a lot of work to do for these four players in South Bend, but let us take a moment to congratulate them on this incredible accomplishment.

Book, Hayes, Hainsey and Ogundeji headed to Senior Bowl

Quarterback Ian Book , offensive lineman Robert Hainsey, and defensive ends Daelin Hayes and Adetokunbo Ogundeji were selected to participate in the Senior Bowl, a fitting cap to four outstanding careers at Notre Dame. Book has pushed his name into the Heisman conversation with the way he has led this team with his arm, and his legs this season, and got that coveted signature win against No. 1 Clemson a few weeks back.

Ogundeji and Hayes have helped lead a defense that has been downright stifling at times this season, and one that is going to be the difference in the Irish getting to a national title game. Hayes has come back strong from missing most of last season due to a shoulder injury, and Ogundeji, like Hayes, is a team captain in 2020, and already has a career-high 3.5 sacks this season.

Hainsey, a two-time captain for the Fighting Irish, is an anchor on one of the better offensive lines in college football, and was Notre Dame’s Offensive Lineman of the Year last season.

Though the 2020 college football season will not count towards a player’s eligibility, these four accepting their invitations to the Senior Bowl likely means they are done in South Bend. They have helped build this program up to the point where they are legitimate national title contenders, and can finish their careers on a high note over the next few months.
