ESPN recently revamped their rankings for the 2021 recruiting class, and Notre Dame football found themselves in the top-10.

The Notre Dame football team has punched their ticket to the College Football Playoff for the second time in the last three years, thanks to strong play from quarterback Ian Book, and a defense led by star linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. While the 2020 team was special and has an opportunity to win a national title, the future is also bright in South Bend.

Head coach Brian Kelly and his staff have spent months putting together their 2021 recruiting class, and it is a special one. In fact, they were recently ranked in the top-10 in all of college football by ESPN (subscription required).

For Kelly and company, these kinds of classes lead to long-term success at the highest level.

Notre Dame football ranked No. 7 overall

Notre Dame 2021 recruiting class is a special collection of players, as the program inked nine of the ESPN 300 prospects. ESPN posted their updated recruiting class rankings on Christmas Eve, and the Irish not only cracked the top-10, but they came in as the No. 7 team overall, behind the usual suspects in Ohio State, Alabama, and Clemson to name a few.

Those teams just happen to be the other three playing in the CFP this season.

The Irish actually moved up one spot in the rankings thanks to the prospects they finished up with, as they bolstered both sides of the ball, and brought in what should be an elite offensive line class. Overall, they found their quarterback of the future, an outstanding group of wideouts, and continued to add to their stable of elite tight ends.

While nobody expects the Irish to do much against No. 1 Alabama on New Year’s Day, this is a team that has won a ton of games together, and as we saw against Florida, the Crimson Tide are beatable with the right game plan. The Rose Bowl is less than a week away, and any time your program is playing in the College Football Playoff, you are certainly doing something right.
