NFL Draft 2021: Notre Dame Football star Owusu-Koramoah PFF’s No. 2 LB
By Brad Weiss
The 2021 NFL Draft is only two and a half months away, so from now, until then, all of the Notre Dame football prospects who are eligible will be working to improve their draft status. While some are on the fringes of being drafted, there are some big-name prospects in this draft class, including two that could go in the first round.
We have spoken at length about the quality of players entering the 2021 NFL Draft from this Notre Dame football program, and a few of them really improved their stock during the Senior Bowl. Guys like Robert Hainsey and Aaron Banks dominated in the trenches along the offensive line, while Ade Ogundeji and Daelin Hayes showed themselves to be legitimate NFL edge rushers.
Quarterback Ian Book also turned some heads and could be a Day 3 pick, but it is one former Notre Dame football player that could hear his name called very early on Day 1.
PFF ranks Notre Dame football star JOK the No. 19 prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft
When Pro Football Focus released their latest big board for the 2021 NFL Draft, the Notre Dame football program was represented pretty high in the rankings. Coming in at No. 19 overall was Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who is widely regarded as one of the top-2 linebackers in this entire draft class.
Since arriving in South Bend, JOK has steadily improved, and over the past two seasons, he has shown the kind of skill set that NFL scouts covet. He is outstanding in coverage, is an elite tackler, and with his kind of physical prowess, he is going to be a three-down backer at the next level.
In the middle of the first round, there are plenty of teams who could use a standout linebacker, like the Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, and Miami Dolphins. JOK could come in and improved those defenses right away, so I would not expect him to fall past the No. 20 pick this April.
In addition to Owusu-Koramoah, Liam Eichenberg cracked the top-50 prospects on this list, coming in as a top-10 offensive tackle in this year’s draft. He is going to be a late first-round or early second-round selection, this after an incredible season in South Bend as the anchor on their offensive line.
