Notre Dame Football: Irish QB Ian Book discusses his NFL prospects
By Brad Weiss
When looking at the quarterback depth in the 2021 NFL Draft, former Notre Dame football signal-caller Ian Book is certainly not the first name brought up. This is a position group headed by Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, someone who many scouts believe is a once-in-a-generation talent at the quarterback spot heading into April’s first round.
While Lawrence gets a lot of publicity, as well as guys like Justin Fields from Ohio State, Zach Wilson from BYU, Trey Lance from North Dakota State, and Mac Jones from Alabama, this is a very deep draft at quarterback. Kellen Mond is a guy who could fight for a starting spot down the line, and Notre Dame football quarterback Ian Book played very well during the Senior Bowl festivities.
Recently, Book spoke with Bleav in The Draft Analysts on the Bleav Podcast Network to discuss his NFL prospects, and what makes him different.

During the interview, which can be heard here, Book is asked what his biggest strengths and weaknesses are. The all-time winningest quarterback in Notre Dame football history, Book has had his fair share of big moments and has displayed tremendous leadership skills during his three seasons as the full-time starter.
He spoke about that in the interview. Ian describes his biggest strengths as a quarterback being: his leadership ability, his accuracy, and his playmaking ability.
"He says how “those are the three things I take a lot of pride in and try to do the best to my ability everyday.”"
His weaknesses? Book states that sometimes he can try to be too much of a playmaker, and needs to sometimes just let plays happen. That is something he is definitely going to need to work on at the next level, where defenses are bigger, stronger, and faster.
Overall, Book is a guy who is likely going to be a Day 3 pick for some lucky franchise, as he brings so much to the table both on and off the field. He may not be the most exciting name of the quarterback that will be drafted in a few months, but as he showed during his time in South Bend, he is not one to ever be counted out.
